This is actually an email I sent to an old friend just catching up. We haven't talked in a long time but we worked on quite a few projects together.
SO happy to hear about your friend I actually had Hep C as well. That's what did all the damage and I went to see Dr. Medadi, she's my gastrointestinal doctor and she congratulated me on my treatment working and I was Hep free. I explained I never did the treatment she never prescribed them for me. She explained that was impossible and ran the more extensive blood test to see if it was a mistake in the lab. I was diagnosed with genotype 1A for years. The test all came back negative. She referred me to Dr. Ashfaq with the Liver consultants of Texas. He ran, even more, test explaining it was impossible that it was just cured. The test he ran more than once confirmed I was Hep C free so It's basically a miracle. I was close to 400lbs. At this time and he prescribed both Spironolactone and Lasix at first it was doing nothing then he doubled the dose and I lost over 100 lbs. In one month the weight was all fluid in my body. Then I was put on the transplant list. At this time I was doing blood test three times a week to make sure my kidneys didn't tank due to all the meds. I was VERY lucky in about two months I already had the transplant which was the 5th of this month July. I'm still in a lot of pain but I feel so much healthier already. As for work, I do a lot of work for the government and medical work software development and linguistics all from home. I'm getting out of the dev work though I'm burned out. I'm starting a new business that documents scanning for two law offices and three doctors. It's repetitive but not as stressful. That's about it. I'm still with Patrick it's been 20 years now and I bought a cute older home for us we moved in this month or should I say my dad and he did I was in the hospital when they did all the moving. We love it and we are already doing some renovation work. Glad to hear you are doing OK but will keep you in my thoughts for a new job soon. Keep in touch!
